The Rulebook is in Good Hands!
There is a particular feeling that comes with handing something off after you have been living inside it for a long time. Relief, mostly. A little nervousness. The same feeling, I imagine, that a parent gets dropping a kid off at college and driving home alone for the first time.
The Airships and Empires core rulebook is currently with our editor, and I could not be happier about that. There are a few remaining rule edits still being worked through, the kind of fine tuning that only becomes visible after you have read the same section for the hundredth time and your brain starts filling in what it expects to see rather than what is actually on the page. That is exactly what editors are for, and ours is good at the job.
The expectation is that editorial work wraps up by mid-July. From there we move into final layout and print production, and then this thing that has been forty years in the making starts making its way into actual human hands, which is still a little hard to believe when I say it out loud.
In the meantime, you will not have to wait for a book to find us. Airships and Empires will be at NOVA Open in Washington DC and Adepticon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the coming months. GenCon is on the radar but I will be honest, that particular beast deserves a little more runway before we wade into it. For now, NOVA and Adepticon feel like exactly the right tables to introduce this game to the world.
I will keep posting updates here as the milestones hit. If you have been following along, thank you. If you are new here and want to know how a game about airships and rival empires came to exist, the About page is a good place to start.
The skies are( almost) open.
Dan
